Piggagamit kan mga babayi an saindang urethra solamente sa pag-ihi, alagad an mga lalaki piggagamit an saindang urethra sa pag-ihi asin ejaculation.[2] An panluwas na urethral sphincter iyo an sarong striated muscle na nagtotogot sa bakong boluntaryong kontrol sa pag-ihi.[3] An internal sphincter, binilog kan bakong boluntaryong smooth muscles sa gilid kan bladder neck asin urethra, nagreresibi nin saiyang nerve supply huli sa sympathetic division kan autonomic nervous system.[4] An internal sphincter is presente sa mga lalaki asin sa mga babayi.[5][6][7]
